Business Meeting – Voting for Officers

Our next business meeting will be held at Sunday the March the 22nd, at Brunch with Cadfile at our gracious host Vicereine and Baron Jon’s home (John and JoAnna Motylewski, 658 53rd Street, Brooklyn, NY 11220, Ground floor entrance. For those with allergies she has 2 resident cats.)

Brokenbridge will hold this meeting to vote in the candidate for Seneschal and possibly to officially vote in the candidate for web minister as well, and discuss any other empty officers positions or change over positions that need to take place. All Brokenbridge officers are asked to attend as we will need a quorum for these decisions. Anyone who wants to become an officer of Brokebridge is welcome to come and throw their hat into the ring even encouraged to do so. After our meeting I’m told there will be movies and/or games to enjoy as it still is brunch with Cadfile. Everyone is welcome to join in the meeting, and bring up anything they wish to bring up. Thank you.

http://fratefrancesconyc.com/#exhibition

“Frate Francesco – Friar Francis: signs, words, images is a landmark exhibition in its presentation of numerous 12th and 13th-century documents, papal bulls, and manuscripts in New York, the first time these precious objects will travel outside Italy. The exhibit is a revised version of the one which first appeared at the Camera dei Deputati, Rome, and brings to light numerous artifacts of exceptional historical and artistic value. This presentation heralds the visit of Pope Francis, a devoted Franciscan, to New York in 2015, and its venue at the United Nations is of further significance, as Saint Francis continues to inspire compassion, dialogue, and humility.”

Dance Practice Wed., Sept. 24th Central Park

The next dance practice will be on Wed., Sept. 24th at 6:30 PM at Belvedere Castle in Central Park.

Everyone is welcome to join us for practice; no prior dance experience required… Practices are held in street clothes, as many are traveling after work.

We’ll meet in the grassy area of Shakespeare’s garden if it is open. If you follow the "From the West Side" directions (please note that the tree mentioned in the directions shortly after you enter the park is no longer there, so take the path on the right) http://northpass.eastkingdom.org/DancePractice_CentralPark.html the grassy area is the "little clearing" before you reach the castle steps. We are typically near the bench on the left side. Once it gets dark OR if the grass isn’t open we move atop the castle. If you cannot find us, please phone (sometimes there is traffic, sometimes we are on the castle if the grass is soggy, etc.).

To find us atop the castle… If you are coming from the west side, once you climb the steps you can find us congregated by the wall slightly to the left of the little covered alcove in front of you. From the east side once you go up the steps at the back of the castle we’ll be to the left near the wall before the little covered alcove.

If it’s raining we meet under the overhang up top. If severe weather is in the forecast please check your email or call us on dance practice days; we’ll make a decision by 2 PM if we’re going to cancel practice.

Upcoming practices:
Weather permitting weekly Wednesday practices will continue.

CANCELLATION of Cooking class, with makeup date

I came home from Barleycorn with a nasty respiratory infection. Since I’ll be medicated for the next 4 days and feel unable to do anything (even breathing is difficult today), I feel that discretion is the better part of valor and so am cancelling my Sunday cooking class. While I will probably not be infectious by then, I will probably still not be fully functional and will definitely not have found my dining room table (my main work surface for such classes) by then.

The “makeup date” is October 5. To all who have said they are coming, please let me know if you can make the new date.

Labor Day BBQ and Archery

In addition to our normal archery practice next Sunday August 31st, since it is Labor Day weekend, we will be having a BBQ.
I’ll be bringing a small BBQ and the charcoal, so bring something to throw on the grill, or some other food/drink.
I will be bringing a table to in addition to trying to commandeer a picnic bench or two, But expect seating to be limited so bring chairs if you have them.
Also a back up tables or two wouldn’t hurt.

As always we will be in Willowbrook Park in Staten Island.
The Address is 2 Eton Pl. Eton Place is off Richmond Ave. one block south of Victory Blvd.
Once in the park go all the way to the back of the parking lot. The range will be on your left and the picnic area will be on the right.
The park is accessible from public transit via the S44, S59 and S62. Also the X10 from Manhattan.

We will be starting around 1pm. Loaner equipment is available and anyone is welcome to shoot..
