Dance Practice Tues., Aug. 25th Central Park 6:30

Assuming the rain and thunderstorms that are predicted for Tuesday end by the afternoon, dance practice will be held Tuesday evening.  Please check email/fb/or phone before you head to the park, especially if the weather is questionable; we may end up cancelling.
Practice is held from 6:30-9:00 PM at Belvedere Castle in Central Park.
Everyone is welcome to join us for practice; no prior dance experience required… Practices are held in street clothes, as many are traveling after work.

We’ll meet in the grassy area of Shakespeare’s garden if it is open.  If you follow the “From the West Side” http://northpass.eastkingdom.org/DancePractice_CentralPark.html the grassy area is the “little clearing” before you reach the castle steps.  We are typically near the bench on the left side.  Once it gets dark OR if the grass isn’t open we move atop the castle.  If you cannot find us, please phone (sometimes there is traffic, sometimes we are on the castle if the grass is soggy, etc.).  If you will be arriving after 7:30 phoning is also advised (however, if we are mid-dance we may miss your call, please leave a message).

To find us atop the castle… If you are coming from the west side, once you climb the steps you can find us congregated by the wall slightly to the left of the little covered alcove in front of you.  From the east side once you go up the steps at the back of the castle we’ll be to the left near the wall before the little covered alcove.

If it’s raining we meet under the overhang up top.  If severe weather is in the forecast please check your email or call us on dance practice days; we’ll make a decision by 2 PM if we’re going to cancel practice.
Upcoming practices:
Tuesdays as weather permits.
For more info or questions, please email or phone.

The Feast of John Barleycorn – John Barleycorn goes to war!

Greetings from Wilhelm and from Oliver to all who see this message!
We are in the final rounds of preparation for this year`s Feast of John Barleycorn and it looks to be grand.
This year`s theme is (as the event title indicates) all things of a warrior nature. We will have many opportunities for Armor and rattan starting with a Friday night torchlight tourney through several Saturdayevents highlighted by Sir Edwards Unbelted Challenge. We have some really fun fencing tournaments, thrown weapons (with the addition of distance throws with javelins) and of course archery. There will be children’s heavy combat (details still being confirmed but we may also have Friday night for them as well!)
We will be having all of the traditional A&S with some new or recently added items. There will be dance and a brewing contest. We are continuing the recently added A&S display and calligraphy class and are adding a gaming area for period games. (A party without games of chance? Never again!)
There will also be much for the youths to do…
And garbing options for newcomers…
And amazing food…
(*Taking chance to breathe.) The event links follow…
The East Kingdom link…
and the local site with much more detail… (all of the above is or will soon be described online.
There is still more to be added to the local website so feel free to ask us if you have questions or look back at the site in the next days as we add more. The feast is only about 1/3 sold but it goes fast once we start getting over the pennsic hangover so don`t miss your spot!

Dance Practice predictions- rain and thunderstorms

Greetings,
It’s the regularly scheduled “Is it really going to rain?” Tuesday missive.  According to 2 different weather sources (and probably others) there is one prediction of rain from 3 PM-9PM with possible storms, and another of 60% thunderstorms around 7 PM.
No dancing in the rain today.

Archery Practice

This weekends archery practice will be moved from Sunday to Saturday the 18th at 1pm, in Willowbrook Park Staten Island.

Of course there will be no practice after that due to Pennsic. Practice will resume on 8//23.

Hope to see you at Practice and look forward to seeing you at War!

Remember to shoot your Archery war points!

Anyone who does not have archery equipment, if you would like loaner gear at war please contact myself or Suudur (Brad).

If you have shot with us at practice – or we generally know who you are, you can pick up  the loaner gear and return it at the end of war or whenever your through using it.
If you have not shot with us and need loaner gear; you will need to shoot when we are at the range.
We will not have loaner gear for those who do no request it. Loaner gear is limited and at a first ask, first serve basis.

Dance Practice Storms

Greetings,
Looks like there are storms comin’ tonight. No dancing up at the castle.
The hot humid weather is expected at this time of year… and certainly so is rain and thunderstorms; however, it would be nice to see storms and rain on other days of the week too.

I will talk to Wilhelm about possibly picking a rain date day.
YiS,
Conandil

Dance Practice Missive

With apologies,
We will not be holding practice Tuesday night.  Unfortunately, Wilhelm got stuck with a work commitment and we will not be able to be there.
Really hoping for decent weather next week!

Dance Practice Information

Greetings,
Practice will not be held Tues., June 23rd.
Beginning on Tues., June 30th we will aim for weekly practices for the summer in the hopes of getting to dance around the frequent rain.  (There will be a break for Pennsic.)

Next Brokenbridge Commons – 09/04/2015

The next Brokenbridge Commons will be on Friday, September 4th at 7pm.  Please note, that this will not coincide with Brokenbridge A&S night.  This is in an effort to ensure that the Arts and Sciences do not get overshadowed by the discussion of business.

Dance Practice moved to Tues., June 16th

Greetings,
It looks like it is going to rain tomorrow, and since we don’t know exactly when it is going to stop or if the stray thundershowers will catch practice, we are going to err on the side of dry dancing.  Hopefully next week will have clear and pleasant weather!
The next dance practice is scheduled for Tues., June 16th in Central Park.  A reminder email with full information will go out next week.
YiS,
Conandil
